Thursday, May 4: Skainos, Refurb Center, Removing Shrubs & soil, fence painting, Dinner with the Old Crew

There was a good group for yoga, led by Cheryl.
Terry did an excellent devotional on the best-selling author Leo Buscaglia, who was labeled mentally deficient because of his difficulties using English as his second language. A wonderful teacher named Miss Hunt realized he had been mislabeled and worked to get him put into mainstream education.
Denis went to the LinenHall Library in Belfast to research James Connolly and Jim Larkin. He went to the docks and the Custom House to see the statue called "The Speaker" which appears to be Jim Larkin. Denis also went to the labor murals on the union building.
Billy, from Skainos, picked up the team, and after dropping Denis off at the Sein Fein headquarters, drove Rod and Debby to the Refurb Center, and the rest of the Team to Skainos.
Rod and Deb stripped bicycles for reusable parts. They then took the discarded remains into recycle containers.
Cheryl, Paula, and Laura went to Billy's house, but first dropped Mike off to help a disabled person put up shades. At Billy's house the VIM Women moved, from a compost bin, about 600 pounds of soil, a dozen sand bags to the curb and then loaded it onto the Skainos bus for delivery to the Recycle Center. They stopped and picked Mike up and then went and unloaded the Van.
After that they went to Billie's house and weeded his yard.
After lunch, at which Mike won another bunch of gummy bears playing bingo, he and Cheryl, Paula, and Laura went to Jim's house and painted a new fence he had put up. It was interesting painting as the fence was at the top of an incline and several times the ground crumbled away from under workers' feet.

At the end of the day, the Team returned to Farset, showered and got ready to go out with "The Old Gang", former workers at Forthspring who had moved on to better jobs. It was great getting together.
